What is this?

On October 31st, forget about pumpkin lanterns on the windowsill – the real Halloween will be in the bog. SUP boards will be lit up like Christmas trees and shimmer like ghosts with LED batteries, things will rustle in the reeds that are better left unchecked, and in the water's reflection, you'll definitely see more than just yourself (or is it really just yourself?). We'll head into the darkness through the lakes and channels of Ķemeri Bog, and even the bravest will breathe a little quieter, because the feeling will be: "Netflix hasn't made this yet."

No one to go with? Often you want to head out for some active fun, but there's no one to join you—friends have other plans, family is busy, and your partner isn't really into it. So feel free to join solo. In our Adventures, you won't feel alone because everyone's on the same path, giving you the chance to have a great time not only in nature but also meeting new people.

5 reasons to join:

  1. Lit-up SUP boards
  2. Nighttime SUPing
  3. Halloween night
  4. Halloween treats and soup
  5. Unusual and unique Adventure

What is the approximate plan?

  • You arrive at the Adventure with your car or with a group buddy. Once the car is parked at "Piedzivojumi.lv Ķemeru tīreļa saullēkta un saulrieta autostāvvieta" (Google map / Waze), you can head out on a 15min walk to the SUP meeting spot "Piedzivojumi.lv saullēkts un saulriets Ķemeru Tīrelī" (Google map) where inflated SUP boards and the group leader are already waiting for you. We'll meet here at 12:00-12:30. Better to arrive 10 minutes early than 1 minute late. Before heading into the swamp, the group leader will give a brief but valuable instruction on SUP and water safety. Time to embark on the Adventure. If you're thinking, I can't SUP, I've never done it, and I won't succeed, then you definitely should come and try – we guarantee you'll succeed. Feel free to sign up and join the Adventure, even if you haven't had much chance to get on a SUP board or SUP before. The swamp lake is the perfect place to try and start enjoying SUP because the water is calm and smooth as a mirror. And also pleasant if you decide to take a swim… but seriously, following everything the leader says and following the instructions, it's impossible to fall in unexpectedly.

Once the SUP board is harnessed, and your SUP skills feel like you could win an Olympic medal, the beautiful and vast swamp world opens up, and here it is “SUPošanas Piedzīvojums tumsā un vēl purvā”. Snap beautiful photos so that Instagram floods with comments like “WOW, so beautiful”, “I want to go too, take me next time”, and then you'll have festive dinner right there in the swamp, because after dark Adventures and SUP activities, you'll want a snack, so it's the perfect time for a warm drink, soup, and some treats to recharge your energy reserves!

When the clock strikes 22:00, the Adventure is over, and you move on to your next Adventures, so account for this time spent on the Adventure + the time you'll spend getting back from it.

Place to park the car: Google map / Waze
SUP or meeting spot: "Piedzivojumi.lv saullēkts un saulriets Ķemeru Tīrelī" (Google map)
    So meeting time: 12:00-12:30
    SUP time: 18:45-22:00
    Trip distance or length: ~3-4km
    Event conclusion or end: 22:00

  • The plan is just a rough outline and there might be changes, but overall it will be as described above.

  • In this Adventure, we'll be going with both boats and SUP boards, and these two Adventures will happen simultaneously, so you can sign up for the watercraft Adventure you prefer. If you want to go with a SUP board, then sign up for the SUP Adventure, if you want to go with a boat, then sign up for the boating Adventure.

How does a SUP Adventure happen?

The SUP Adventure happens with SUP boards, meaning it's a paddleboarding Adventure where we paddle along a cool route. Our SUP boards are each designed for 1 person, meaning they're single-seaters. On some SUPs, there can be 2 people, meaning they're double-seaters, but in such cases, you must contact us BEFORE signing up for the Adventure, as their number is VERY limited.

Who will be the group leader?

The leader of this Adventure group and your companion will be Adventure Maker Raimonds. This means you'll have a hand to hold while climbing a mountain, a shoulder to lean on before a daring thrill, or a buddy to hit up local parties with. Those who've been on an Adventure with him know you'll head where you probably shouldn't, do things you probably shouldn't do, and it'll be awesome - it'll be ADVENTURES.

What else should I know?

If you're inclined to whine and be grumpy about little things, then this won't be the right Adventure, as it spoils both the group's microclimate and the mood of other group members. That's why we want to see positive adventurers on our Adventures. The group leader won't "babysit" the picky folks but will simply ignore them to focus on those who want to enjoy the Adventure. The group is small, which usually turns into a very friendly company, so it's not the right place for those who want to "pick fights."

We also recommend checking out the frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions:

  • 1. What do I need to bring?

CLOTHING - You'll definitely need weather-appropriate and event-appropriate clothing. Dressing for the weather means checking the forecast the day before the event and preparing your outfit accordingly. If it's raining, wear something rainproof, and if the sun's shining, dress so you're not too hot or cold, etc. Make sure you're comfortable. Also, remember a change of clothes, as this Adventure is on the water and you might get wet. In short, your clothing list might look like this: clothes for water activities, like a swimsuit in warm weather, long pants (ideally waterproof overpants) in cold weather, a sweater/jacket, suitable footwear, and a towel will be handy. Then clothes for when the wind picks up and spare clothes for after the event (in case of an unexpected swim). And it's important to be prepared for rain with a rain jacket, because you never know.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS - insect repellent (if it's "mosquito season"), sunscreen (if sunny weather is expected), a thermos with a drink (if not included in the Adventure), snacks (if not included in the Adventure), etc.

  • 2. How do we get to the Adventure and back?

Getting to the Adventure start is with your own private transport. If you don't have your own private transport, it's possible to team up and go with other participants of this event. Before the Adventure, we'll try to organize and help so those who drive with their own transport can pick up those who don't, as this way it's possible to share fuel costs (win-win). If this option doesn't suit you, it's possible to go by public transport.

  • 3. Can I go alone?

You can definitely join by yourself. On the contrary, many people go solo and in that case, you'll have the chance to meet new friends or maybe even find your other half 😉

  • 4. Can beginners join the activity?

The Canoeing Adventure is meant for everyone - both those who paddle from morning till night and those who've never done it before. We'll show you everything, explain it, and teach you. Plus, along with the gear, we've provided a life jacket for everyone to make sure everything's smooth sailing in this Adventure :)

  • 5. Are there any height and weight restrictions?

Our SUPs have a limited capacity, so the weight limit is 120kg. There are no height restrictions, at least we haven't noticed it being important.

  • 6. Will the Adventure take place in unsuitable weather conditions?

We care about the quality and safety of this Adventure, so it will only happen in weather conditions suitable for this Adventure. Whether the weather is suitable is determined by the Adventure group leader, not any of the participants or their friends. In case of cancellation, we will inform you no later than 12 hours in advance (before the start of the Adventure). If canceled, you can reschedule your participation to another preferred date for this Adventure or even an Adventure with equivalent costs, but only if we cancel the event, not if a participant decides to cancel it themselves.

  • 7. How to sign up for an Adventure?

You can sign up for the trip on our website by clicking the "SIGN UP" button and filling out the application form located under the Adventure description. Since there are many interested, but not all are actual travelers, an advance payment is required to confirm participation in the Adventure. The amount of the advance payment depends on the specific Adventure. By paying this advance, your spot in the Adventure is confirmed. If you cancel your participation in the Adventure, the advance payment is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to confirm participation in another trip.

  • 8. How long can I think about it if I want to sign up?

You can think about it as long as there are spots available. After that, you can keep thinking, but there won't be any spots left on the trip.

  • 9. Signed up, what's next?

After signing up, note and reserve these dates for yourself, and slowly start preparing. A few days before the Adventure start date, usually at the beginning of that week, but no later than 4-5 days before, you'll receive an informational email with the meeting time and other important "what / where / when" info regarding the Adventure.

  • 10. How does the contract signing happen?

There's no physical contract signing. When signing up for an Adventure, after filling out the application form and before making the payment, you can check out the Adventure contract and save it if needed. Paying the advance invoice confirms this particular Adventure contract.

  • 11. Is it possible to sign the contract in person?

No, it's not possible, because we VERY often find ourselves on adventures outside of Latvia (check the Adventure list on our website). Occasionally, between Adventures, you can catch us in Cēsis.

  • 12. What about COVID?

We don't discriminate against people, and it's each person's responsibility to get vaccinated or not, so everyone must take responsibility for themselves. Of course, everything will be done legally. Also, keep in mind that you need to assess how you feel, and you can't participate in this activity if you show virus symptoms.

  • 13. Is there anything else important?

The trip's vibe and awesomeness largely depend on the travelers themselves, so if you like to stir up trouble or "mess with the minds" of the organizers and other trip participants, then this trip isn't for you. We've had a couple of grumpy ladies before who annoyed everyone, so if you can't control your mood – DON'T COME! The group leader is ALWAYS right (even if they're not), so if you've decided to join, you'll have to listen to them.

Payment terms:

• Deposit payment 40EUR (per person) to reserve your spot upon booking.

Since we receive A LOT of applications but not all turn into actual bookings, your spot is only confirmed and reserved after the deposit is paid.

Age restrictions:

• Minimum recommended Participant age 10 years.

• No maximum age limit for participants.
