Girls and boys arrive at our agreed place and time. Those who arranged to drive together have already had time to get to know each other in the car, but the ones who came alone are still rubbing their hands in uncertainty, even though the spying task in the event WhatsApp group has already been done before. Everyone is here, and we do a small, quick mini intro to reduce the awkwardness. The group leader gives a short but useful briefing, and off we go on the hike. For some, the talk flows so well and is so interesting that the smile is all over the face. For others, it can get stuck, and then our help is needed, because we will not talk about the weather, right?
Somewhere in the middle, at the end, or at a time you do not know in advance, there is also a small picnic break. Then we are back at our starting point - the official part of the Adventure is over.
Where is the start, or the meeting point? Long Lakes (Google maps / Waze)
How far will we walk? In total, it will be about ~11km
What should I wear and how should I dress? Clothes that match the weather, let you move freely, and feel comfortable. We really suggest avoiding jeans, because they get cold and wet fast, and they are hard to move in. Also avoid clothes that you do not want to get dirty, or clothes that are hard to move in. Best is to dress in several layers, so you can take one layer off if you are hot, or add one if you are cold. For example, thermal underwear as the first layer, then a sweater, a fleece layer, and a wind jacket. In colder weather, take a warm winter jacket, scarf, winter hat, and thick gloves. For your feet, wear warm socks and waterproof hiking boots that cover the ankle, or rubber boots. Normal trainers or city ankle boots will not work. Also take extra spare clothes with you, so you can change if you get wet, sweat a lot, or need to change for any other reason. You will also want to go home in clean and comfortable clothes.
What else do I need to bring? There will be a picnic break, so you will need a warm drink (tea, coffee, etc.), some sweets and snacks (sandwiches, small pies, homemade apple cake to share with the group, etc.). If time and weather allow, we will also make a campfire.
Getting there: By private transport, with another group member (1–2 days before the event there will be a chat group where you can arrange it), or by public transport. If you want to go to the Adventure by public transport, please check the times and routes yourself on the relevant information websites.
