What is it?

If your idea of an active holiday is binge-watching three seasons of a series and taking out the trash twice – we offer an alternative. One where your back doesn't hurt from the couch and your face beams with joy. One where your phone's battery is dead, but you've recharged yourself.

This time, we'll head out on an e-bike Adventure around the Strīķu loop – a scenic route through forests, hills, and trails where Google hasn't been, but we will. We'll cover about 35 km, but with an e-bike, it means you can feel like a superhero version of yourself – calmly pedaling while the motor whispers: “I've got your back, buddy.”

On the way, we'll see the Red Cliffs, Rūcamavots, Kalēja Cave, and Ērgļu Cliffs – places where you just want to stop, be silent, and simply watch. Of course, there will also be a picnic break with snacks brought along, because an Adventure without a sandwich is like a tent without pegs – you can, but it's better not to.

Think you can handle it? With an e-bike, everything's easier – hills feel like nothing, and during every break, you can casually pretend you're super sporty. This will be an Adventure with movement, scenery, and awesome company.

No one to go with? Often you want to head out for some active fun, but there's no one to join you—friends have other plans, family is busy, and your partner isn't really into it. So feel free to join solo. In our Adventures, you won't feel alone because everyone's on the same path, giving you the chance to have a great time not only in nature but also meeting new people.

5reasons to join:

  1. Ride with an e-bike
  2. Active holiday in nature through beautiful places
  3. Really cool route
  4. Picnic in nature with sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, and tea
  5. The perfect way to disconnect from everyday life

Ozolkalns Camping

What is the rough plan?

  • Let's meet at 12:00 at the meeting point Ozolkalns Camping (Google map / Waze). If you came with your own car, you can leave it here, but if you don't have a car, we've arranged for a group buddy to pick you up along the way. Once everyone is here and we've politely waited 2 minutes for any latecomers, we can start. After a short but VERY useful briefing, we're ready to hop on our electric steeds and ride into the prairie with the wind in our hair or hit the road. We pedal, enjoy, learn something new, and have a beautiful day. Around 16:00 and after covering ~35km, it's time to finish. We've cruised through a beautiful and scenic route. Seen something, caught new vibes. New pics on your phone for Instagram stories or to brag about at the next meet-up with friends, grannies, sisters, brothers, and everyone else, even if they don't want to see them, you'll show them anyway and say how awesome it was. The cool Adventure is over.

What time do we meet? We meet at 12:00. It's best to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early, because it's better to be 10 minutes early than 1 minute late.
Where do we meet? Ozolkalns Camping (Google map / Waze)
How long will the distance be? We're planning to cover ~35km slowly and leisurely.
When will we finish? We'll finish when we finish, because it all depends on our own pace, but the planned finish time is around 16:00.

  • The plan is just a rough outline and there might be changes, but overall it will be as described above.

What is an e-bike?

Our e-bike is an electric mountain (MTB) bike, specially designed and perfect for riding both on roads and smaller paths and forest trails. It's equipped with everything you need to make your holidays enjoyable in every possible way. We've heard the myth that it's for lazy people and not that great, but it's quite the opposite. It's an INSANELY good thing, and once you try it, you won't want to get back on your regular bike. The bike won't ride for you; you have to pedal and ride just like a regular bike, but it makes pedaling easier when needed. You can especially appreciate it when there's an uphill, as you can "easily" pedal up the hill and continue enjoying the ride. Riding an e-bike is MUCH more enjoyable. Not convinced? Imagine riding on a super cool road, and there's a hill ahead, but you don't care at all because the e-bike motor helps you pedal up the hill just like you'd ride down a small hill. IT'S FANTASTIC!!!

What else should I know?

If you're inclined to whine and be grumpy about little things, then this won't be the right Adventure, as it spoils both the group's microclimate and the mood of other group members. That's why we want to see positive adventurers on our Adventures. The group leader won't "babysit" the picky folks but will simply ignore them to focus on those who want to enjoy the Adventure. The group is small, which usually turns into a very friendly company, so it's not the right place for those who want to "pick fights."

Frequently asked questions:

  • 1. How many km can you ride on a single bike battery charge?

It depends on the rider's weight and riding style. A heavier rider requires more power from the bike motor, which means the battery will drain faster, and the same goes for riding aggressively with maximum motor assistance. On average, you can cover 35-45km on a single charge. In Eco or economic mode, it can even be 60-70km.

  • 2. What to do if the e-bike runs out of battery?

If the e-bike's battery runs out, you can still keep riding by pedaling on your own, just like with a regular bike. The only thing is, the bike itself is a bit heavier than a regular one, so the ride might feel a bit tougher.

  • 3. Is it possible to ride in the rain and mud?

Our electric bike is specially designed for riding on not-so-suitable roads and off-roads. Rain won't bother it either.

  • 4. Can beginners participate in the activity?

The E-Bike Adventure is meant for everyone. Riding it is just like any regular bike, but with a little help, making the ride MUCH more enjoyable. We'll show and explain how to use the e-bike, but to join the Adventure, you MUST know how to ride a regular bicycle and follow traffic rules. Knowing how to ride doesn't mean just hopping on and rolling a few meters, but being able to move safely at an average speed (10-15 km/h). Just so you know, we'll show you how to ride an e-bike, but we won't teach you how to ride a bicycle.

  • 5. Are there any restrictions for e-bikes?

We have men's and women's bicycles available. Each of them has restrictions. For example, weight limit. The maximum allowable weight is 95kg for men and 85kg for women, so if you weigh more than this limit 95kg (men's) or 85kg (women's), unfortunately, you won't be able to participate in our bike holiday Adventure. There is no minimum weight limit. The second restriction is height. Our bikes are suitable for riders with a height range of 155-195cm. This means if you're shorter than 155cm or taller than 195cm, our e-bikes won't fit you, and unfortunately, you won't be able to participate in our bike holiday Adventure. The third and most important thing is that you MUST know how to ride a bike. Yes, seriously, because we've had cases where participants sign up for the bike Adventure who don't know how to ride a bike or feel unstable on it.

  • 6. What's the age limit?

Our e-bikes have height limits, so the rider’s height is the main thing. The minimum participant age is 16 years. If you plan to join as a family with children, please make sure your children really want it. This is a group ride, and other participants should not suffer because one child suddenly gets fed up.

  • 7. How to sign up for an Adventure?

You can sign up for the trip on our website by clicking the "SIGN UP" button and filling out the application form located under the Adventure description. Since there are many interested, but not all are actual travelers, an advance payment is required to confirm participation in the Adventure. The amount of the advance payment depends on the specific Adventure. By paying this advance, your spot in the Adventure is confirmed. If you cancel your participation in the Adventure, the advance payment is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to confirm participation in another trip.

  • 8. How long can I think about it if I want to sign up?

You can think about it as long as there are spots available. After that, you can keep thinking, but there won't be any spots left on the trip.

  • 9. How does the contract signing happen?

There's no physical contract signing. When signing up for an Adventure, after filling out the application form and before making the payment, you can check out the Adventure contract and save it if needed. Paying the advance invoice confirms this particular Adventure contract.

  • 10. Is it possible to sign the contract in person?

No, it's not possible, because we VERY often find ourselves on adventures outside of Latvia (check the Adventure list on our website). Occasionally, between Adventures, you can catch us in Cēsis.

  • 11. When will I receive a more detailed plan?

A more detailed plan than what's on the website isn't offered to participants, so get ready for surprises, because that's way cooler 😉

  • 12. Is there anything else important?

The trip's vibe and awesomeness largely depend on the travelers themselves, so if you like to stir up trouble or "mess with the minds" of the organizers and other trip participants, then this trip isn't for you. We've had a couple of grumpy ladies before who annoyed everyone, so if you can't control your mood – DON'T COME! The group leader is ALWAYS right (even if they're not), so if you've decided to join, you'll have to listen to them.

Payment terms:

• Deposit payment 50EUR (per person) to reserve your spot upon booking.

Because we receive VERY many applications, but not all applicants become real travellers, your place is confirmed and reserved only after the deposit is paid.

Age limits:

• Minimum Adventure participant age 16 years.

• There is no maximum age limit for an Adventure participant.

How much does it cost?

50 €Participation fee

If you sign up now, you'll have the chance to join this fantastic Adventure for a fee of 50 EUR. Later, the Adventure fee will increase and you won't be able to negotiate for a cheaper price. The price includes everything described below. The number of spots on the trip is VERY limited, so don't put off signing up until the last minute 😉
