What is it?

Hike series "Along and Through", where on one lovely Sunday each month we invited everyone to join us on hikes right here in Latvia. It is a chance to go on a cool hike not only for experienced hikers, but also for beginners, to see if hiking is your thing. Sun is shining, rain is falling, or snow is coming down – nothing will stop us if there are great people around. In this hike series on Sundays (with small exceptions, when it can be another day) we will take different routes, both ones we have done before and ones where we have never been ourselves. It will be an ADVENTURE!

WHEN ARE THE NEXT HIKES?

Sigulda (15.11.2026)
When all the leaves have already fallen from the trees and the fifth Latvian season called NOVEMBER has arrived, we will go on a hike along and through a Sigulda classic – the typical landscapes of the Gauja River ancient valley, from the mystery-filled Velnala Cave to the mighty pedestrian bridge that takes our feet over the river to the Krimulda side. The trail twists and turns along steep forest slopes, and at the finish Gūtmaņala Cave will be waiting for us with its legends and sandstone walls. The route is not too hard, but it has enough ups and downs to feel that you have enjoyed the Sigulda classic for real

5 reasons to join:

  1. Active holiday in nature through beautiful places
  2. Organized and planned hike with a group
  3. Picnic in nature with sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, and tea
  4. Slowly enjoying without rushing
  5. Cool and motivating group members

All over Latvia

What is the rough plan?

Where do we meet? Siguldas svētku laukums (see location on map)
How long and when will we finish? We'll finish when we finish, as it all depends on our walking speed and the number of sandwiches, but the planned finish time is by 16:00.
How tough? Vidēji grūts (road, off-road, trails, thickets)
How far will we go? ~12km
What's our route? Siguldas mazais aplis (Routes.lv route)
What to bring? Weather-appropriate clothing and shoes, lunch snacks and sandwiches, drinks (tea, coffee, water), desas ko cept uz ugunskura

    09:30–16:30
  • The plan is just a rough outline and there might be changes, but overall it will be as described above.

What else should I know?

Our hikes go both on trails and roads, as well as through complete off-road, where there's neither a trail nor any sign that anyone's ever been there, so be prepared for brambles and nettles, maybe crossing a river on a fallen tree or wading up to your waist in water. This hike is one that feels hard and easy at the same time. It's not about sightseeing pretty places, but more about the journey itself and challenging yourself.

We also recommend checking out the frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions:

  • 1. What do I need to bring?

First, you need to dress according to the weather. Dressing according to the weather means checking the forecast the day before the hike and preparing your clothes accordingly. If it's raining, wear something that protects you from the rain, and if the sun is shining, dress so you won't be too hot or cold, etc. Make sure you're comfortable. A very important part of the hike is footwear. With special hiking shoes, you'll be more comfortable, but that doesn't mean you need to rush to the store to buy them. You can wear sports shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, and a very important element is a non-slip sole. Grass sports shoes won't do. In winter, pay the most attention to gloves and shoes, because freezing on a hike is not cool at all.

  • 2. How do we get to the Adventure and back?

Getting to the Adventure start is with your own private transport. If you don't have your own private transport, it's possible to team up and go with other participants of this event. Before the Adventure, we'll try to organize and help so those who drive with their own transport can pick up those who don't, as this way it's possible to share fuel costs (win-win). If this option doesn't suit you, it's possible to go by public transport.

  • 3. Can kids join the hike?

We really like kids and they often join our hikes, but this hike is primarily meant for adults, so we recommend assessing the child's ability to complete the hike, so it doesn't affect or disturb the quality of the hike for other participants. The hiking pace is moderate.

  • 4. Signed up, what's next?

After signing up, mark and reserve these dates for yourself, and slowly start preparing for the Adventure. The meeting place and time are listed in the description of this Adventure. Changes are rare, but if they do happen, you'll be informed via email. If you have any additional questions or uncertainties, contact us through one of the communication channels listed in the contact section of our website. Our most convenient way of communication is WhatsApp, which you can find on our website. If we need to share info with the group before or during the Adventure collectively, we'll create a WhatsApp group for easier communication. Otherwise, see you at the Adventure at the specified place and time.

  • 5. How long can I think about it if I want to sign up?

You can think about it as long as there are spots available. After that, you can keep thinking, but there won't be any spots left on the trip.

  • 6. Is there anything else important?

The trip's vibe and awesomeness largely depend on the travelers themselves, so if you like to stir up trouble or "mess with the minds" of the organizers and other trip participants, then this trip isn't for you. We've had a couple of grumpy ladies before who annoyed everyone, so if you can't control your mood – DON'T COME! The group leader is ALWAYS right (even if they're not), so if you've decided to join, you'll have to listen to them.

Payment terms:

• Deposit payment 25EUR (per person) to reserve your spot upon booking.

We get A LOT of sign-ups, but not everyone really joins. So the place is confirmed and reserved only after the deposit is paid.

Age limits:

• Minimum recommended Adventure participant age 10 years.

• There is no maximum age limit for an Adventure participant.
